Happy Birthday Puddin

Puddin Pop's birthday was the day after Christmas.  Following tradition, we made her a chicken liver birthday cake that Lauren helped make and decorate.  Here's a little funny story!  We celebrated Puddin's 10th birthday, yep we put it on the cake and a couple days later I even made a sign and took some photos.  Tracy and I both thought 'my oh my where does the time go, can't believe our girl is already 10' (especially after our boy turned 10 in June)!

It might be hard to see, but that says Happy 10th Puddin - complete with turkey jerky and milk bones carefully placed by Lauren.

 

Lauren had a good time giving hugs and treats to the dogs and serving them their birthday surprise of cake and ice cream. 

Lauren also enjoyed being with Puddin during her photo shoot.  It really is very sweet to watch these two!  Lauren is so in love with Puddin Pop!  She loves Buford too, but she really has a special bond with Puddin.  It's another reason to dread the day that something does happen as the dogs are aging because I know it will be very difficult on Lauren too. 

So where is the funny part?  Well, a couple days after taking all of these photos I really started thinking how could she be that old already?!  So I got out her paperwork and realized that she just turned NINE!  It's true, I feel like a terrible greyhound mom that I didn't even know my own dog's age!  I went back and checked and last year we did correctly celebrate her 8th birthday.  I'm just glad it wasn't the other way and she's not older than we thought!  And fortunately Puddin is none the wiser to my mistake and still loves us all just the same!
