Mama's Boy

I found this post that I had drafted on paper one day and it never made it on the blog (I think I must have been bored at work one day, LOL!).  This was a couple years ago, but the story still rings true today and the photos were taken just a few months ago when I had Tracy take some pictures of me and Buford before he went in for surgery because I was a worried mess!  So here goes, and I definitely smiled when I found this....

----------
I know I have mentioned it several times before, but Buford is a true mama's boy!  He showers me with kisses constantly, he follows me everywhere, and even knows my special ring on my husband's cell phone!  Since we let the dogs out through the side door in the garage, I call to tell my husband that I'm in the driveway and am getting ready to open the door so he knows not to let the dogs out.  For years now, Buford runs to the door and starts whining, anxiously awaiting my return, as soon as he hears my ring!  He doesn't do it when the house phone rings or with any other ring on the cell phone - only mine :)

We recently watched a movie called "Hachi - A Dog's Tale".  Pretty much the only TV I watch anymore is Disney related!  It is rare that I sit down to watch a movie, but it was about a dog, I was exhausted that night, and I didn't have energy to do anything else but sit on the couch!  I'm a sap when it comes to anything sad so I spent the last 40 minutes or so of the movie in tears!  If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.  The gist of it is that a dog (Hachi) went to work every day with his owner (played by Richard Gere) who was a professor.  The dog would wait outside every day at the train station at 5:00 pm when the guy got out of work.  The professor has a heart attack and dies early on...it was basically that point forward that I began crying!  The dog still went to his post every to wait for the professor.  At the end of the movie, we found out that it was based on a true story and Hachi went to the train station, even after the guy died, every day for 9 years!  The true love and dedication of dogs is incredible!

At the end of the movie, Tracy looked at me and said "Buford would go to the door and wait for you every single day as long as someone called my cell phone"!  I laughed, smiled, and sat down on the floor to give my boy some extra lovin' and thought - I need to document this on the blog.

Now, fast forward a few years...and yes, Buford still waits for me at the door as soon as he hears my ring!  It took long enough for me to get some photos of the two of us to go along with the story, but here's me and one of my biggest fans!
