Puddin's birthday was the day after Christmas and she turned 6 years old. We decided to continue the tradition of the liver birthday cake even though it began with Macy. I cut the cake through tears knowing how much Macy would have loved to have a piece too. Puddin has definitely been "off" without Macy here. It's hard to put into words, but she has been different. She hasn't been as playful and just kind of mopes around. She also seems nervous at times. Remember that adorable smile that she was so famous for when we met her in the kennel? That smile is also the reason that she was returned from her first adopter because they were afraid of her! Once we got her home, we soon realized that Puddin's smile was a nervous reaction - she only smiles here when she thinks she is in trouble, when we have to wrap a wound, or when she goes to the vet. Lately, though, we've seen that smile more often for no apparent reason. We've tried to keep life as normal as possible for Buford and Puddin. Buford hasn't changed and hopefully the old Puddin will return soon.
We tried to make her feel special on her big day! Our decorating leaves little to be desired, but the kids don't mind what it looks like :)
Buford thinks that is some lip smacking good birthday cake and wants to make sure he gets every last crumb!

The cake all tastes good in the tummy! They sure look like they enjoyed it!
Yummy, liver cake! Happy Birthday to Puddin. Sorry that she is feeling out of sorts. I think that is common, but it's still really sad. I hope she starts feeling better and that you all are doing okay.
