GIG

Last weekend we went to Greyhounds in Gettysburg for the third year in a row.  On the way up, Tracy and I reminisced about last year's drive which was miserable between Puddin whining and Lauren screaming!  Fortunately, Lauren is a great rider now and falls asleep every time she gets in the van :)  Puddin was still whiny though.  She loves to go, but I think she must have some sort of motion sickness.  It was difficult without Macy this year.  We got the exact same hotel room which also brought back memories of her jumping from bed to bed like a little kid picking out the one she liked best.  I still think about her all of the time and miss her so much.  I saw a greyhound with her front leg amputated and a wave of emotion came over me and I was suddenly pushing back tears.  I think it did the same thing to Tracy as we gave each other "the look" and took a deep breath.

Anyway, we still had fun although I didn't take as many pictures as years past.  It was freezing cold and windy on Friday, but the weather was much nicer on Saturday.  I volunteered at the VAGA tent most of the afternoon.  I even got to meet Bunny and Blueberry from Tales and Tails!  I was pretty excited to meet them since I've been following their blog for probably close to two years now.  I was busy writing up orders and didn't get to chat with them for long, but I did snap a quick picture!  Buford and Puddin were in the hotel room with their daddy at the time so they didn't get to meet Miss Bunny either!

Puddin always love to shop!  We had a hard time convincing her that we really don't need another squawker.  We have one in every vehicle, one in the house, and one we take on walks, but she still thought we had to have another!  Someone was demonstrating with one and Tracy eventually had to drag her away because she was obsessed!

Buford made it his goal to meet every single hound there!  I don't think he was successful, but he never gave up trying!  He is just so friendly and wanted to check everyone out.  He also had a mission to pee on every blade of grass there.  I tried to count how many times he went in a day, but I lost count at 29 and just gave up!

One woman was shocked when I told her that they were 6 and almost 8 years old.  She thought they were only 2 or 3 because they were so friendly and full of energy.  Of course, they did wear themselves out.  Back in the room, Puddin insisted upon banishing herself to a little corner in the room.  I have no idea why, but she seemed perfectly happy there!  She would come out for some love and then go back to her corner - silly girl!

She's giving me the stink eye for disturbing her sleep for a picture!

My handsome boy - all eyes and ears!

Since many of the stores allow greyhounds in for the weekend, the kids got to accompany their baby sister into the Stride Rite store to get her foot measured.

Before we left on Sunday, I got a quick picture of me and the kids together.  It's not the best since Lauren was about to fall asleep and no one is looking at the camera...I should have thought to get this picture earlier in the weekend!

The rest of the pictures are from the VAGA tent.  Kristen and Carolyn had fun trying to unfold themselves from clipping and dremeling nails all day (there was always a line)!

I think Lauren got a little too comfortable being around so many dogs all weekend because after we got home on Sunday, I turned around to catch her drinking out of the dogs' water bowl!  Yes, life with a baby and greyhounds is interesting at times :)

It was so nice to meet you, too! I felt similar to the way you felt about going and missing Macy when I went to Dewey last fall. She just loved going on that trip and playing in the ocean. It was tons of fun taking Bunny for the first time, but I couldn't help reminiscing about her being there.

You guys packed a ton of stuff into the weekend! I think you might have been even busier than we were! If we go next year, we will have to track you down earlier and meet Puddin and Buford.

You make it sound so fun, definitely gotta try to make it up there next year. Though I'll probably spend all my time helping Kris with nail trimming :)
