Blizzard of 2016

At the end of January, we had blizzard winds as well as continuous snow for nearly 36 hours!  We were blanketed with 30 inches of snow!  My girls loved it and we spent lots of time out in the white wonderland.  However, this was the first time that the dogs have not enjoyed a good romp in the snow!  Sadly, I think they are officially old!  Of course the sheer volume may have been a bit overwhelming too.  Tracy used the snow blower to make all kinds of paths for them to go potty and they didn't veer off of the path.  The few running shots I have of them were really just a short-lived slight jog after they went potty, but I'll take it.  Neither one of them spent a lot of time out in it, but Puddin sure did love eating snow every time she went out (in fact she's still doing it nearly 2 weeks later)!  We have been experiencing quite a meltdown over the last week which is good, but the downside of all of the melting snow now is the continuous cleaning of muddy paws!

And completely unrelated to the dogs, but thought I would add a few of my other favorite shots taken during the storm (aside from my children of course - they have their own blog).

It's hard to see, but love that one little snowflake clinging to the plant (full disclosure: I actually captured this by accident, didn't even see it while I was shooting, so I was pleasantly surprised when I downloaded photos)!

The next time it snows I'm definitely buying bird seed!  I felt bad for these guys.

The way the full moon illuminated the snow was very pretty too.  I got a new lens (Sigma 150-600 mm) and this was my first shot with it!  Excited to test it out again :)

Had fun playing with bubbles because - why not? LOL

The next one may be my favorite photo ever taken with my macro lens!  The art of frozen bubbles is amazing!

And a fun shot to end with...this is our grill and as soon as my daughter saw it she said it looked like the volcano from the Disney short film titled Lava (which is really cute by the way) so I googled it for comparison and she was right! :)
